'Die Walküre' at Seattle Opera

August 26, 2021

Ludovic returns to conduct Seattle Opera on August 28 in their first live concert since 2020, where they will deliver a concertante performance of Wagner Die Walküre.

In celebration of the community and the return to in-person performances, the ‘Welcome Back Concert’ will let the music of Wagner’s iconic opera fill the Seattle Center campus from the Fisher Pavilion Lawn to the International Fountain.

During his eight years as Music Director of the Seattle Symphony, Ludovic was known to push the boundaries of traditional concert programming. His innovative programming encompassed not only his choice of repertoire, but theatrical productions and performances outside the traditional concert hall space. Some of these projects, including John Luther Adams Become Ocean, Aaron Jay Kernis Violin Concerto performed by James Ehnes and an exploration of Dutilleux’s music, have earned the orchestra five Grammy Awards, as well as the distinction of being named Gramophone’s 2018 Orchestra of the Year.

Ludovic has released 19 recordings with the Seattle Symphony Media label which was launched in 2014.
