Ludovic Morlot conducts Les Troyens at Seattle Opera

16 January

Ludovic Morlot conducts Berlioz’ epic opera Les Troyens (Acts 3, 4, & 5) in concert at Seattle Opera on 17 and 19 January with star soloists J’Nai Bridges and Russell Thomas.

This is the first time Les Troyens has been performed by Seattle Opera and follows their celebrated 2023 production (also conducted by Morlot) of Saint-Saëns’ Samson and Delilah in concert.  Back in November, Morlot conducted Debussy’s Pelleas et Melisande in Dallas Opera’s first ever production of the opera, eliciting excellent press:

“The best thing about Friday’s opening performance was glorious playing from the Dallas Opera Orchestra, the score’s rustles, shimmers, weavings and surges exquisitely shaped by guest conductor Ludovic Morlot”
Dallas Morning News, November 2024

“Morlot led the orchestra in supplying the musical backdrop for the drama, undergirding the players with appropriately dreamy and shadowy accompaniment and enhancing the unfolding action with atmospheric interludes that intensify as the conflict surrounding the love triangle grows more immediate.”
Texas Classical Review, November 2024

“musically, this is a superb production of an astonishing masterpiece. The Dallas Opera’s orchestra was sensational throughout. Guest conductor Ludovic Morlot displayed a rare mastery of Debussy’s elusive score. The singers were equally outstanding.”
