Ludovic returns to the San Francisco Symphony

October 27

On Thursday November 2, Ludovic Morlot returns to conduct the San Francisco Symphony for the first of three concerts at Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall.

As part of the California Festival – A Celebration of New Music, Ludovic will open the concerts with the U.S premiere of Latest – a new work by 97 year old Franco-American composer Betsy Jolas. With absolutely no sign of slowing down in her later years, Jolas explains : “I’m still learning and I’m still trying things I’ve never done before.”

Violinist Augustin Hadelich takes to the stage to perform Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor, which is followed by Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. This iconic piece will be joined by Bay Area artists Liz Hernández and Fernando Escartiz, who will unveil newly commissioned artwork in response to each of Mussorgsky’s musical pictures.

Looking ahead, Ludovic travels south on the U.S west coast to conduct the Pacific Symphony over three dates in Costa Mesa from November 16.
