Ludovic conducts national premiere of Luca Francesconi's violin concerto

12 January

Tonight, Ludovic Morlot conducts the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra in the first of two concerts at L’Auditori this weekend.

Ludovic will open the concert with Eduard Toldrà’s sardana Empúries, for orchestra. Toldrà was the founding conductor of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra when it was created in 1944, and the work premiered by the Pau Casals Orchestra, won him an award.

Violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja will then join Ludovic and the orchestra for the national premiere of Luca Francesconi’s violin concerto Corpo elettrico. Co-commissioned in 2020 by L’Auditori, its eagerly awaited premiere was delayed by the pandemic.

Ludovic will then close the evening with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor ‘Pathetique’, before conducting the work again tomorrow, Saturday 13 January
