Last week, Ludovic Morlot conducted a landmark performance of Messiaen’s epic Des Canyons aux Etoiles with the BBC Philharmonic (where he continues his relationship as Associate Artist) at Bridgewater Hall Manchester and live on BBC Radio 3, available to listen to on BBC Sounds.
The performance was heralded by The Telegraph, receiving a five-star review from critic from Ivan Hewett:
“Not a piece for a faint-hearted orchestra – but the BBC Phil was up to the task…the orchestral players rose to the challenges magnificently under the guiding hand of conductor Ludovic Morlot, who found a razor-sharp precision when needed but also gave the soloists’ music room to breathe… it was a marvel.
