Ludovic Morlot returns to Aspen Music Festival for Ravel celebration

Friday August 15th

On Sunday August 17th, Ludovic Morlot returns to the Aspen Music Festival to conduct the Festival Orchestra in a 20th-century program of Ravel, Debussy, and Lutosławski, featuring cellist Alisa Weilerstein.

Ludovic continues a year of commemorating the 150th anniversary of Ravel’s birth with a program featuring one of the composer’s most famous orchestral works, Boléro, alongside his orchestration of a work he originally composed for piano, Une barque sur l’océan. Continuing the theme of French impressionism, the program will also feature Debussy’s Jeux.

"[Morlot] has a command of that French style that will make him perfect for this program."

Ludovic will conduct Lutosławski’s Cello Concerto, reuniting with Alisa Weilerstein, having collaborated at the 2021 Aspen Music Festival for a performance of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with violinist Robert Chen and pianist Inon Barnatan.
