Ludovic Morlot presents fourth
season as Music Director of
Barcelona Symphony Orchestra

Monday July 21st

As he enters his fourth season as Music Director of the Barcelona Symphony (OBC), Ludovic Morlot offers an insightful preview of the 2025/26 season highlights in a newly released video.

Framed by the theme Renaixements (renaissance), the season explores how creativity can emerge from rupture and crisis and draws the connection between musical innovation with cultural regeneration, both past and present.

Highlights of Ludovic’s season include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Dvořák’s New World Symphony, and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra – works shaped by revolution, exile and renewal. The season also pays tribute to figures like Pau Casals, Conxita Badia and Josep Valls i Royo, all of whom were profoundly shaped by displacement and the search for peace far from home.

Ludovic brings an exciting line-up of the world’s leading soloists including Augustin Hadelich, Bomsori, Josep Colom, Pablo Ferrández, James Ehnes, and many more. He will tour with the orchestra to leading venues in Germany and the Basque Country. Returning to the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg after Ludovic led the orchestra’s succcessful debut last season, the orchestra will also perform for the first time in Stuttgart and Düsseldorf.

Finally, Ludovic and the L’Auditori label will celebrate a significant milestone with the completion of their ambitious project to record the complete orchestral works of Maurice Ravel. Ludovic and the OBC will record the last three CDs of the six that make up this series, which concludes with a performance of the opera L’enfant et les sortilèges.
